Lakey Peak is our flagship destination
Lakey Beach sits on the south coast of Sumbawa, roughly midway between Bali and Komodo, and it produces some of the most consistent, high-quality surf in Indonesia. The main break — Lakey Peak — is a fast, hollow A-frame that handles swell from multiple directions, giving it an unusually long season and a reliable shape even when the rest of the region goes flat.
The wave breaks over a sand bottom, making it more forgiving than the reef passes further east, but it still delivers powerful barrels and open walls that suit intermediate through advanced surfers. On a good swell it's world-class. On a smaller day it's still worth getting in the water.
The surrounding area is remote by design. There's no resort sprawl here — just a stretch of coastline, a handful of locally run warungs, and a community that has built its life around the ocean. Sumbawa itself remains one of the least-visited large islands in Indonesia, which keeps the crowd count down even in peak season.
Our partner property at Lakey Beach puts you within walking distance of the break, with everything you need and nothing you don't.
